“The Look,” winner of Massify’s first Student Film Grant, is now premiering exclusively at Massify.com
Founded by Brett Icahn and Kenneth Woo, Massify is an online production network – a place on the web for up-and-coming filmmakers to collaborate with each other, connect with fans, and make movies. We gives filmmakers, actors, and everybody involved with film one place to work together, and the digital tools to do it. Massify recently made cinema history with “Perkins’ 14.” The first ever fan-created movie, “Perkins’ 14″ hit theaters two weeks ago during After Dark Films’ Horrorfest III.
But before Perkins, Columbia grad student Ryan Demler pitched his ‘gothic horror noir’ using a logline, video, screenplay, and other materials. When fellow film students awarded his pitch the most votes, Ryan received the funds he needed to go into production.
The result is an impressive 17 minute short shot with the RED digital film camera and featuring several established NYC-based actors, including Thomas G. Waites (Law and Order, OZ, NYPD Blue.)
